Karen has over 20 years experience in communication working with major blue chip FTSE 100 international and UK companies.
Karen’s previous experience includes:
- Conducting research and communication audits for NSPCC, Alliance and Leicester, Manpower, Visit Britain, Orange, Vertex among others.
- Designing, developing and implementing global & UK internal communication strategy and plans for change programmes for DHL, Nycomed Amersham, BAe Systems and GSK.
- Strategic communication consultancy; working with Chief Executives, Boards, senior, middle management and employees of organisations such as Diageo, Standard Life Investments, and the Audit Commission.
- Communication engagement and team briefing workshops for senior and middle management for NSPCC, St Regis, United Utilities and Astra Zeneca.
- Account directing award winning on line programme for 3M.
- Developing communication infrastructure, branding and messaging for The Home Office and Bedfordshire County Council.
- Assisting in the communication audit for Lloyds and TSB prior to their merger and subsequent employee satisfaction surveys.
- Developing an innovative and leading edge loyalty programme for NatWest credit card customers.
- Producing newsletters and interactive computer software programme for internal communication of new service provision relating to encryption and security coding for The Royal Mail.
- British Airways, a communication programme to launch the new ‘Club World’ and ‘First’ passenger services to a global internal audience
- McVitie’s UK, creating a new management meeting structure and new ways of working, empowering employees in a highly successful programme, which was rolled out company-wide.
- Introducing a Quality Management system to the Marketing Department of BT and Glaxo/Allen & Hanburys, to improve employee awareness and motivation.
- London Underground, Developing a safety communication and motivation programme for the construction of the Jubilee Line and for Tate and Lyle, Granada, Astra Zeneca and South Hook LNG.
- Internal and external launch and communication of ‘Investor in People’, quality and customer care programmes for a local authority and local community.
- Account Director for European communication programmes for Shell Oils, launching new products and services to consumers and employees.
Achievements and Qualifications
- Instrumental in developing quality management systems and helped Projectlink to become the first marketing agency in the UK to achieve BS 5750.
- Trained Lead Assessor for Quality Management Systems accredited to ISO 9000 (1996)
- Qualified in Basic Counselling skills (1997)
Foundation course in Philosophy (1998) - One of the first to achieve Chartered Marketer status from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (1999)
- Qualified NLP practitioner with Bandler McKenna Training (2000)
- Qualified with advanced diploma in hypnotherapy and psychotherapy with Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy(2005)
- Qualified in mentoring with The Princes Trust (2005)
- Achieved ‘Competent Communicator’ status with Toastmasters International (2008)
- Awarded Fellowship of Winston Churchill Memorial Trust (2008)
